ABS/PADetailed description of the materials

ABS/PA refers to an alloy material of polyamide (PA, commonly known as nylon) and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS). This material combines the high strength and toughness of PA with the excellent notch toughness, low water absorption and dimensional stability of ABS.

Performance characteristics

  1. Chemical resistance and stress cracking resistance: ABS/PA alloy has excellent chemical resistance and stress cracking resistance, which makes it perform well in chemical environments and under stress conditions.
  2. Excellent notched impact strength: ABS/PA material has excellent notched impact strength, which means it can absorb more energy when impacted without cracking.
  3. Matte effect: ABS/PA alloy can provide a matte effect, which is particularly important in the interiors of high-end cars to reduce the driver's visual fatigue.
  4. Shock absorption and sound absorption: ABS/PA material has excellent shock absorption and sound absorption performance, which makes it very useful in applications that require noise and vibration reduction.
  5. Excellent low-temperature impact resistance and fatigue resistance: ABS/PA material can maintain excellent impact performance even at low temperatures and has good fatigue resistance.
  6. Good processing fluidity: ABS/PA alloy has good processing fluidity, which makes it easier to handle during the forming process.

Specific application

  1. In the automotive industry, ABS/PA materials are widely used in the peripheral components of automotive instrument panels, such as central control panels, instrument panel covers, and interior parts like air conditioning vents, endowing automotive trim parts with lightweight. Moreover, due to their characteristics of no need for painting and recyclability, they significantly increase the added value of the products.
  2. Sports equipment and casings: Due to the excellent low-temperature impact resistance and fatigue resistance of ABS/PA alloy, it is widely used in sports equipment and casings, such as motorcycle and ski wheels, ski boots, heels, lawn mowers, PC and power tool casings.
  3. ABS/PA alloy is also commonly used in electronic and electrical components, such as power sockets, voltage converters and charger housings, which usually need to have fire-resistant properties.
  4. ABS/PA alloy has become the preferred material for the interiors of high-end cars due to its matte effect.

ABS/PAWhat are the advantages of materials on car dashboards?

  1. Matte effect: ABS/PA material can create a soft matte surface effect, which is not available in other materials. This matte effect helps reduce drivers' visual fatigue and improve driving safety.
  1. Lightweighting: ABS/PA materials endow automotive trim parts with the characteristic of lightweighting, which helps to reduce the overall weight of the vehicle and improve fuel efficiency.
  2. Spray-free and recyclable: ABS/PA materials, due to their spray-free and recyclable features, greatly increase the added value of products and are also environmentally friendly.
  3. Heat resistance: The heat resistance of ABS/PA material is no less than that of PC/ABS material, especially under low load conditions, its heat resistance is even better. The softening temperature of Vicat can reach 180℃(A/50), which is unmatched by PC/ABS materials.
  1. Cost improvement: The density of ABS/PA material is relatively low, and the reduction can be as high as 6%, effectively lowering costs.
  2. Processing performance: The product fluidity of ABS/PA material is very good. Compared with other materials, it has better processability and a wider range of processing scenarios.
  3. Chemical resistance: ABS/PA materials have excellent resistance to stress cracking from various chemicals such as gasoline, lubricating oil, coolant, etc.
  4. Low-temperature impact resistance and fatigue resistance: ABS/PA materials are widely used in sports equipment and shells due to their excellent low-temperature impact resistance and fatigue resistance.
  5. Wear resistance and shock absorption and noise reduction: ABS/PA material also has excellent wear resistance and shock absorption and noise reduction properties, which make it perform well in interior parts such as automotive instrument panels.

  1. Geely Automobile: Geely Automobile has collaborated with Kumho Eri to successfully apply noise-reducing PC/ABS alloy to the instrument panels of multiple Geely models through material research and development and parts verification.
  2. Mercedes-benz E-Class: Materials such as ABS, ABS-PC, ABS-PC-GF20, and PC-ABS-GF10 are applied to parts such as door panels, rearview mirror systems, electronic components, bumpers, instrument panels, control panels, air intakes, side vents, and seat belt interfaces.
  3. Volvo XC60: Materials such as ABS, ABS-PA, ABS-PC, PC+ABS-GF10, and ABS+PA are used in instrument panel brackets, door panels, rearview mirror frames, window lift decorations, audio grilles, front grilles, lamp frames, control panels, exhaust outlets, and seat armrests, etc.
